That the Brighton Community Workshop Project (BCWP) is undergoing the process of establishing itself and that all functions and services attributed to the BCWP are to be considered work in progress.
The BCWP is now accepting;
- Advocate Members (ANNUAL)
- Herald Members (ANNUAL)
- Protector Members (ANNUAL)
- Champion Members (MONTHLY)
- Non-Members
Borrowing Tools
The Library is open, I understand that opening hours are variable and that any tools borrowed are used at my own risk as laid out in the Liability Waiver agreement.
Volunteering
The BCWP is a volunteer based organisation. I may be asked to volunteer to help BCWP in the setting up certain features.
Volunteering is not mandatory.
Brighton Community Workshop Project (BCWP) Valid Account Holder - Tool Use Agreement
- Members/Account Holders must be 18 years or older to join the BCWP
- Advocate, Herald & Protector Memberships renew after 12 months (unless the Account Holder has opted to not auto-renew)
- Champion Memberships renew after 1 month (unless the Account Holder has opted to not auto-renew)
- A Squire Account (for non-member account holders only) expires after 2 weeks
- A Valid Account Holder is a user who’s Membership has not expired
- A Valid Account Holder can borrow up to 10 items at a time for 7 days
- Before borrowing occurs every user must, create a MyTurn Account and have their identity and address verified by a BCWP director or volunteer
- A BCWP volunteer or director may assist the Valid Account Holder in explaining how to operate tools, the Valid Account Holder confirms capability of using prospective borrowed items safely and properly by taking possession of item
- The BCWP is committed to maintaining all items, however, it is not responsible for any defects in any borrowed items
- If a Valid Account Holder borrows an item and finds that the item has become unsafe or is in a state of disrepair then the Valid Account Holder must discontinue use immediately and return it to the BCWP, notifying administrators of the fault - a replacement may be made available on the basis that a suitable replacement is available
- Only BCWP Valid Account Holders are authorised to use BCWP items, tools and equipment
- Battery operated items and high maintenance items may require additional fees
- The standard loan period of any item is 7 days, however, this may be subject to change based on circumstances
- All items borrowed are to be returned to BCWP by close of business on the date that the item is due to be returned
- Valid Account Holders are liable for late fees. Unless stated elsewhere, overdue fees are £1 per item, per day. Late fees are capped at the full replacement cost of the item, plus a £5 admin fee in the case of missing or damaged items
- BCWP may charge a Valid Account Holder to replace or fix an item, charging the Valid Account Holder for the full replacement cost plus an administrative fee of £5, if that Valid Account Holder damages an item or does not return a tool
- Fines in excess of £10 must be paid in full before any further borrowing is authorised
- BCWP reserves the right to take appropriate steps to retrieve damaged or overdue items or unpaid fines and fees. In such situations, BCWP reserves the right to revoke membership and take legal action.
- BCWP reserves the right to waive overdue fees at its discretion
- A Valid Account Holder may renew an item if no other Valid Account Holder has reserved that item. Items may also be renewed twice in succession. BCWP reserves the right to refuse or limit renewals and may do so based on demand.
- All items are to be returned clean and in the same or better condition as they were when lent to the Valid Account Holder, excluding normal wear and tear. Valid Account Holders must pay for damage to, or for the loss of, any tool in their possession and accept the assessment of the BCWP of fair restitution for damage, dirtiness, delinquency, or loss of a tool in part or whole. A restitution amount may equal the full replacement cost of the tool plus a £5 administrative fee.
I have read and fully understand the rules and regulations of the Brighton Community Workshop Project as set out in this Agreement and Tool Use Policy and I understand that failure to comply with any of these rules may result in revocation of my borrowing privileges, legal action against me, or both.
I have also read and signed a Liability Waiver form relinquishing any and all claims against BCWP and associated bodies.
